Betty – a Haitian immigrant from Port-Au-Prince Haiti – is a mother of two amazing children, a wife, and daughter of two hard-working parents, from whom she acquired determination and an entrepreneurial mindset. She is a hard worker with moral business ethics who cares for people. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Psychology from Touro College, with a focus on counseling. Upon graduating, Betty worked with multiple non-profit organizations such as Block Institute, YAI, and Quality Service Beyond Compliance, as a supervisor of advocacy for children with disabilities. Betty is a community-minded entrepreneur who founded her first home-based child care center in 2003, The Brainy Bunch Daycare. Although a small business, it has been a vital resource in the predominately African- American and Hispanic, low-income community it serves; a community stricken by violence, and lack of resources since 2003.

“Helping support and empower women to live with passion and determination.”

Her experience, reputation, and persistence have earned her the support of many community leaders and local business, such as The Brooklyn Cyclones, Coney Island Hospital, Astella Development Corporation, Community Board #13, Coney Island Cathedral, P.S. 329, and the residents. She’s become an asset to her community and continues to serve its needs.

In 2012, Betty was sought out by Catholic Charities to house their Montessori Head Start Program due to super-storm Sandy in 2012, which devastated not only the community but destroyed the children’s child care centers. She continues to collaborate with the agency, providing a FREE Head Start Program to low-income families. She’s currently undergoing a new project, which is to fill the need for a child care nursery in the Coney Island area. The new nursery is expected to open by June 2016, providing jobs and, as well, 30 new infant placements.

After years of experience, Betty’s passion to empower the mother’s of the children she served led her to establish, Determined Wings in January, 2016. Since then Betty has collaborated with New York Woman Chamber Of Commerce to present the Woman In Business Master Class, “Act Like A Lady Think Like A Boss,” aiding woman in reaching their entrepreneurial goals – despite their obstacles. By providing the essential tools, guidance, and know-how to help them start their own businesses, she is executing her vision to help, support and empower women to live with passion and determination.
